UAE reaffirms climate change commitments in Paris Agreement: Sheikh Mohammed

Emirates: The UAE has reiterated its national pledges and commitments to reducing carbon emissions by 25 per cent before 2030, according to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

This is in line with the Paris Agreement, a pact within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), dealing with greenhouse-gas-emissions mitigation, adaptation, and finance, signed in 2016.

In a tweet, Sheikh Mohammed said: "Climate change is the most prominent battle for mankind in the coming decades to preserve the planet Earth for new generations."

The UAE joined over 170 countries worldwide in signing the Paris Agreement in 2016.
