Saudi Arabia: Saudi Arabia has secured the fourth spot in the Road Quality Index among G20 countries, according to a 2023 World Economic Forum report.

The Kingdom’s RQI grew by over 10 percent to 5.7, which is the highest among its G20 counterparts, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The RQI evaluates the quality of road networks, thereby helping ensure user safety. The advancement in terms of RQI falls in line with the efforts exerted to maintain the Kingdom’s global leadership in road network connectivity, enhance road quality, and improve operational efficiency.

It also aligns well with the nation’s endeavors to ensure safety as well as meet the ambitious targets outlined in the National Transport and Logistics Services Strategy entailed in its Vision 2030.

“This progress comes as a result of the great and unlimited support it enjoys from the (Kingdom’s) wise leadership,” Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Saleh Al-Jasser said.

The acting CEO of the Roads General Authority, Badr bin Abdullah Al-Dulami, highlighted the remarkable momentum in the road sector in 2023, which contributed to this achievement.

In May 2022, the Saudi Ministry of Transport and Logistics announced that it was seeking to secure the sixth place in the global RQI rankings by 2030.

At the time, the ministry said that it was working to enhance the integration of transport patterns and the road network to improve services in cities, regions, and governorates.
