Ministry of Labour issues warning to companies

Oman:

Oman’s Ministry of Labour said that it had detected 180 cases of fake employment records pertaining to Omanis in private sector companies.

As Omanisation is a pre-requisite to get work permits for expatriate labour force, some small private companies resort to showing inaccurate details of Omani staff as working in their registered company.

The ministry explained that such work permits obtained by furnishing wrong record tantamount to exploitation of bona-fide rules. It urged Omani citizens not to be party to such action that violate the rights of their own countrymen in their search for jobs.

Work permits

The procedural check brought to light the quick turnover of Omani staff that when verified shed light on this practice.

Apart from obtaining work permits for expatriate workers, Omanisation percentage if achieved by a company also entitles them to various other benefits and emoluments.

The Ministry called on all private sector institutions to cooperate to curb this phenomenon that affects the sector as well as the economy.

A clarion call was also made to all Omanis who are necessarily the owners of most of the private sector organisations, not to indulge in such practices that mars the opportunities of Omanis in the job market.
