Manpower authority denies breaching staff privacy
Kuwait:
Aseel Al-Mazyad, Head of Public Relations and Media Department at the
Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) denied social media rumors about alleged
violation of privacy of some authority employees. The rumor, which reportedly
started by a news service account on Twitter before spreading on the platform,
claimed that the Information Technology Center of PAM has violated the privacy
of employees through applications downloaded on staff members’ smartphones.
“Some applications are not available for download at the Apple store, as this
store offers applications that are only available for the public,” Mazyed said.
“In this case, public institutions provide links to download unavailable
applications, and sends them to employees’ personal phones, which prompt the
user with a notification that they need to confirm the download after verifying
the source’s trustworthiness.” “This doesn’t mean that there is a possibility of
reaching the personal data of employees in any way,” Mazyad concluded.
