Dubai residents required to get government permission before returning

Emirates: Dubai residents who are planning to return the emirate must have government approval to re-enter.

In an update on its website, Emirates airline advises passengers can apply for approval while making a booking online or through its contact centres.

Alternatively, passengers can complete the application on the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA) website directly before booking a flight.

Every passenger flying to Dubai is required to fill in a health declaration form and a quarantine undertaking form

Additionally, travellers will be required to agree that they – or their insurance - will pay for any expenses related to treatment and quarantine in the event that they test positive for Covid-19.

Upon arrival in Dubai, passengers will be required to take a PCR test for Covid-19, and remain in their residence until the results are given.

“If the test result is positive, you will be required to undergo isolation and follow the Dubai Health Authority guidelines,” the airline added.

Residents are also required to download a mobile application that allows them to be monitored during their quarantine period.

Travelling abroad

For trips abroad, Emirates airline said residents do not need a Covid-19 test or Dubai government approval to leave the emirate, but passengers must be aware of and meet the travel requirements of the country they are travelling to.

In addition, residents who travel abroad will require approval from the GDRFA to return.
