LuLu Hypermarkets introduces reusable and paper bags at Saudi Arabia outlets
LuLu Hypermarkets has introduced new reusable and paper bags
across all its stores in Saudi Arabia as part of a wider campaign to reduce
plastic consumption and protect the environment, according to media reports.
According to a report in Saudi Gazette, the campaign has been rolled out to
coincide with the Saudi National Day celebrations on September 23.
“We are extremely honoured to be the first hypermarket in the kingdom to launch
this kind of initiative that promotes an eco-conscious lifestyle on how to enjoy
shopping while caring for the environment,” LuLu Saudi hypermarkets director
Shehim Mohammed was quoted as saying.
“As part of nationwide campaigns towards helping nature to thrive, we believe
that these LuLu-branded reusable bags, along with the paper bags, will add a new
dimension to retail shopping by spreading a big message to the public to become
more responsible on saving resources,” Mohammed added.
LuLu Group currently employs nearly 3,000 Saudi nationals and has plans to
expand its workforce to more than 5,000 nationals by the end of 2020.
